Rejoicing in the Death of the Wicked
2 June 2009
Rev. Michael Bray
Sometimes we would be nicer
than Jesus. Rather than fume at the hypocrite teachers and
leaders who mislead rather than teach and guide the people – rather than
call them “blind guides” and “white washed walls” – we coddle our false
teachers and fawn over them. Perhaps this is because they do not
demand of us what Christ demands. And we love them for it.
Do we not know that our
Christ is the God of the “Old Testament”? Do we think that
He is nicer than the Holy Spirit or the Father?
Do we not understand the
Spirit of God who inspired the song of thanks in gratitude for the blood
shed by Deborah and Jael?
The lady deceived Sisera,
an enemy of the people. She lured him into a room where she said
he could sleep and then drove a tent peg through his skull. The Son
of God (or was it the Holy Spirit? The Father?) inspired a song of
praise to be recorded by the prophets for the people of God to be read
and sung on appropriate occasions by God’s people. It is a song of
thanksgiving and rejoicing for this deed of deliverance.
Most blessed of women be Jael,
the wife of Heber the Kenite,
most blessed of tent-dwelling women.
He asked for water, and she gave him milk;
in a bowl fit for nobles she brought him curdled milk.
Her hand reached for the tent peg,
her right hand for the workman's hammer.
She struck Sisera, she crushed his head,
she shattered and pierced his temple.
At her feet he sank,
he fell; there he lay.
At her feet he sank, he fell;
where he sank, there he fell-dead (Judges 5:24-27)
The song goes on
to exult in the anticipation of the mother of the freshly deceased Sisera
waiting in ignorance for his return from battle and expecting to benefit
from the spoils of war that he would have brought home including a maiden
or two for each Canaanite warrior.
No. They would bring
back nothing. Sisera, the leader of the enemies, was well executed
by Jael. Thanks be to God!
We are anti-abortion without
apology and we rejoice is the death of this wicked man without apology
and without shame. We do not blush in our praise of Mr. Roeder.
We rejoice in the deliverance of countless innocent children. The
blood shedding has been stopped. Praise be to God!
There is a song we know
from our childhood from the Wizard of Oz sung by Munchkins in celebration
of a death of the wicked witch. Dorothy reports how the house fell
upon the witch and that she really never intended to terminate her.
Of course her diminutive denial of intent to kill her did not dissuade
the gracious and thankful Munchkins from crediting her and thanking her
for the deed.
One Munchkin offers: ‘We thank you very sweetly for doing it so neatly.”
And a second adds:
You've killed her so completely,
That we thank you very sweetly
The judge and major and
men of the city are called verify the death of the wicked witch and conclude
that she “is morally, ethically, spiritually, physically, positively, absolutely,
undeniably and reliably dead!”
The coroner proclaims:
As Coroner, I thoroughly examined her
And she's not only merely dead,
She's really most sincerely dead
The mayor leads the town in the proper response to this good news:
Then this is a day of independence
For all the Munchkins and their descendants
Yes, let the joyous news be spread
The wicked old witch at last is dead!
The people respond with appropriate song and celebration with the now-popular refrain:
Ding-dong the witch is dead
Which old witch? The wicked witch!
Ding-dong the wicked witch is dead
Wake up you sleepyhead
Rub your eyes, get out of bed
Wake up the wicked witch is dead.
By examining the response of many putative prolife leaders to the good news, it would appear we are stuck in Kansas. But on the contrary, there are many who have come around since the shootings which occurred under the pro-abort Clinton Administration. If such rescues continue under the pro-abort Obama Administration, perhaps we will grow and develop a sound mind on the matter. Kansans could learn from the citizens of Munchkin Land.
Here is a new song:
Ding-dong the butcher’s dead
The butcher’s dead, shot in the head
Ding-dong the baby butcher’s dead
Wake up you sleepyhead
Rub your eyes, get out of bed
Wake up the baby butcher’s dead!
Let us think biblically and Christianly, girding ourselves with the truth (Eph. 6:14).
Cordially in Him,
Michael Bray

Genesis 9:6
Whoso sheddeth
man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed:
for in the
image of God made he man.
Numbers
35:33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are:
for blood it
defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the
blood that
is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
