 ANGLETON — Terry Mark Mangum blinked hard four times Wednesday when Judge Pat Sebesta read the verdict pronouncing him guilty of killing a Pearland man 14 months ago.
 None of the six-man, six-woman jury made eye contact with Mangum as they filed out of the courtroom. Their departure was followed by some audience members weeping openly and hugging one another, as others moved to shake hands with lead prosecutor Jeremy Warren.
 The jurors would return a little more than a half-hour later, delivering with them a sentence of life in prison for Mangum. This time it was the convicted killer who did not make eye contact as the decision was read while one female juror took a drink from a 16-ounce bottle of Coca-Cola and another glanced at Mangum.

ANGLETON — Kenneth Cummings voluntarily climbed in the trunk of Terry Mark Mangum’s car after the pair left a South Houston gay bar the last night Cummings was seen alive, Mangum told Pearland police six days after the man disappeared.
Cummings was drunk and playing around, Mangum said in an almost five-hour video played in full for 12 jurors in Mangum’s murder trial at the Brazoria County Courthouse on Tuesday. Mangum even grabbed the man’s leg to persuade him to get out of the trunk, he said.
“He was so drunk he actually jumped into the trunk,” Mangum told police.

 Kristi Compton, a forensic psychologist from Dallas, testified during the fourth day of Mangum’s murder trial Monday that he is delusional and schizophrenic. She insisted during her time on the stand “schizophrenic” be used to describe Mangum, she said, because “insane” is a legal term.

 In an interview with the Houston Chronicle, murder suspect Terry Mangum, 26, admitted to the murder and said that he had no remorse over the crime, implying his victim got what he deserved.
 "I believe with all my heart that I was doing the right thing," Mangum told the Houston Chronicle. "I planned on sending him to hell."
 Mangum, who described himself as "definitely not a homosexual," said in the interview that he'd been called by God to "carry out a code of retribution" against a gay man because "sexual perversion" is the "worst sin." Full story.
